Last night's episode of Family Guy, called "Germany Guy," included a Twilight reference which played upon the quarrels between Edward Cullen and Jacob Black over Bella Swan . . . using string puppets.
It was only about a fifteen second quip, but if you watch the full episode, the joke begins at the 4:30 mark.
As you can see, the joke espouses a pretty disagreeable viewpoint for fans, but it does serve to stretch the reach of the Twilight series that much further.
A full episode synopsis can be found at TV Fanatic.
This is the latest of many, many Twilight references to be seen on television programs such as this. A few months ago, The Simpsons spoofed Twilight (only it was called "Tweenlight", then) for a full third of their much-anticipated yearly Halloween special, and just a couple of weeks ago, Parks And Recreation ladened their "Time Capsule" episode with the anecdotes and ravings of a super-obsessed Twilight guy. Other TV comedy shows known to have incorporated Twilight include Saturday Night Live and Mad TV, among others.
Whether or not Twilight is everyone's cup of tea, the subject sure does seem to have become a fixture of today's pop culture, and the continued incorporation of the Saga in programs such as Family Guy, The Simpsons, SNL, and others only proves that fact again and again.
