From NME
After a decade spent dutifully picking up Best Live Band gongs from every music mag under the sun, Muse have - for only the second time at an NME event - picked up one of the 'proper' awards.
As voted by readers of NME, Matt Bellamy and co are officially Britain's Best Band. And frankly, it's long overdue: their goggle-eyed ambition, unfailing ear for a stadium-shaking hook - and flagrant disregard for the Indie Cool Laws that have shaped guitar music since 'Is This It' - make them the only true candidates for the accolade right now, and it's high time we celebrated their unique genius.
Immediately after collecting the award, frontman Matt Bellamy nipped backstage for a chat with another guitar hero, the mighty Slash. You can read the results of this unique axeman summit in next week's NME, on sale next Wednesday.
